Nobody knows what’s going to happen next week. Nobody knows how many foreigners are coming, nobody knows if the Gautrain will really work, nobody knows whether Bafana are going to shock us all… but everybody knows for certain that Giovannis are going to double the price of the country’s best cappuccino!
I know it’s supposed to be our secret weapon, but nobody really knows either what the accumulative effect of 60,000 vuvuzelas blowing at 64 matches in a row – not to mention the couple of hundred thousand extra in every city centre – is going to be on your hearing. So, while you’ve still got it, better make the most of some good music.
Because nobody knew that Kulula would give airline tickets away at R399, I’m stuck in Cape Town for the next month. So you can come catch me at The Theatre in the District from 8.00pm tonight – I’m on the bill at a fundraiser for ‘Theatre for Change’. I’m also at Zula on Cape Town’s Long street at 8.30pm on Sunday night (6th), and at the MTN Fanpark at the Waterfront on Friday 18th at 6.30pm. There’s more later in the month, but I’m not going to bore you… all details in the gig-guide at http://ianhenderson.com.
Puff out those cheeks, puff up those chests with pride, buy a team shirt (I can’t recommend the mirror covers cause my mate Sid’s lasted 3 hours) and enjoy it, all of it! This aint coming around again any time soon!
Ciao, Ian
