Support Theatre for Change! Cosmos Productions will be hosting a fundraising event to support their Theatre for Change Tour on the 4th of June, 6.30 pm at Theatre in the District. The evening will start with a welcome drink and a delicious buffet dinner at 6.30pm. At 8pm, catch an extract from our show Paraphernalia, music by African acoustic pop artist Ian Henderson, a poetry performance by Mbali Vilakazi and a performance by Sivuyile 'SIV' Ngesi . Nicholas Ellenbogen will then host a talent auction, where you can bid for great talents and activities such as a sailing trip around Houtbay, a surfing lesson, an ashtanga yoga session and much more...
Project Overview Cosmos Productions in collaboration with Cape Town visual theatre artists have created Paraphernalia to address societies concern about the future of the planet and it's consumer habits. The show looks at the cycle of buying that we are accustomed to, which is eroding our humanity. We start to loose connection in our relationships with people, and give up the things that are important to us in favour of consumerism and the latest fads. We become "trapped by convention, driven by compulsion". Paraphernalia is a compelling theatre production that is artfully told with objects, masks, animation and illusion. The show will perform with the Cape Town Edge at the National Arts Festival from 29th June to 3rd July 2010, and then have a run in Cape Town from the 6th till the 10th July. Cosmos Productions will then tour its second show Joyce's Choices to schools in Port Elizabeth, Knysna, George, Oudtshoorn and Cape Town.
